Pongwe
Pongwe’s arc of sand is dotted with palm tree and about as close to the quintessential tropical paradise as you can get. It is at the located at the central Eastern cost of Zanzibar 7 km south from the more famous Kiwengwa beach. Pongwe is a sleepy village which has been less affected by tourism than many of the other Zanzibar beaches. The local population is still warm and friendly and this attracts many guests to return to this corner of Zanzibar year on year.
There is no supermarket in Pongwe. Good supermarkets are in the neighboring town where one will find pretty much everything needed. We will support you with the shopping. Our serene location requires looking after the environment. Water is a precious resource that we need to buy by truck and bring to the house. Electricity is a privilege in this part of the island. Our guests need to respect and understand this and help us to protect this beautiful island and do not waste fresh water and electricity.
